Biskra (in Arabic: بسكرة, in Berber and in chaoui: ⵜⵉⴱⴻⵙⴽⴻⵔⵜ) is a city of North-East Algeria.
Understand
The city is a good choice as a base from which to visit the region is a thousand-year-old city dating from the time of theRoman Empire. It is nicknamed "The queen of the oases" or "The door to the Sahara" because it connects the north to the south. Formerly, it was known to be a tourist resort attracting wealthy Europeans who spent the winter there spending lavishly at the casino, famous at the time.
Currently, it is best known for being an important center of date cultivation. deglet nour which also earned it the nickname "Sweet Biskra".
