Bien Hoa is a city in the province Dong Nai, Vietnam.

History

Dai Nam Nhat Thong Chi of the National History of the Nguyen Dynasty said that the ancient land of Bien Hoa was the territory of Ba Ly (Ba Li) and Thu Nai, ancient states located in the Southeast of Champa, now the land. Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Dong Nai. Later, when Chenla grew up, they were all annexed by Chenla.

  • In 1808, Tran Bien Palace changed its name to Tran Bien Hoa
  • In 1832, Tran Bien Hoa was changed to Bien Hoa province
  • In 1975, Bien Hoa province was dissolved and Dong Nai province was established, the provincial capital located in Bien Hoa town.
  • In 1976, Bien Hoa town was upgraded to Bien Hoa city - a grade 3 urban center, directly under Dong Nai province.
  • In 1993, Bien Hoa City was recognized as a grade 2 urban center, directly under Dong Nai province.
  • In 1994, Bien Hoa City established a number of new wards and communes (Buu Long, Hoa Binh, Quang Vinh, Tan Phong, Long Binh Tan, Tam Hiep, Trung Dung, Buu Hoa, Tan Van, Ho Nai...) .
  • In 2010, Bien Hoa City expanded its administrative boundaries and added 4 communes (An Hoa, Long Hung, Phuoc Tan, Tam Phuoc from district Long Thanh).

Geography

Bien Hoa city is located in the west of Dong Nai province. The North borders Vinh Cuu and Dong Nai districts. The South borders Long Thanh district. The East borders on Trang Bom district. To the west, it borders Tan Uyen, Binh Duong and Di An townships in the province Binh Duong and District 9, Ho Chi Minh City.

Bien Hoa city is the economic, political, cultural, social, educational, scientific and technical center of Dong Nai province. Bien Hoa city is a grade II urban center, directly under Dong Nai province and passing by National Highway 1A.

Bien Hoa is on both sides of the Dong Nai River, 30 km from the center of Ho Chi Minh City and 90 Km from Vung Tau city. The total natural area is 264.08 km², with a population density of 3,030 persons per km².

Recently, the People's Council of Dong Nai province has decided to move the current administrative center of Dong Nai province to Tam Phuoc New Urban Area, Tam Phuoc Commune in order to reduce pressure on traffic, as well as create favorable conditions for urban development. Bien Hoa Street renovates the landscape and the area in the city center.
