Boa Vista(German: "Good view") is the third largest island of with an area of 620 km² Cape Verde. It is located in the southeast of the archipelago Ilhas de Barlavento (Islands over the wind).
Regions
Similar to the northern neighboring island Sal Boa Vista is quite flat, its highest point is the Monte Estância at 387 m, it still towers above the former volcanic vent Santo António at 379 m. That is by far not enough to bring the trade winds to rain down. But they can shape the sand into dunes. Therefore, the interior of the island is desert-like dry, the green one is an exception Vale do Norte, it is a popular destination.
The island has extensive sandy beaches. One of the most beautiful is probably the one Curralinho or Santa Monica Beach in the extreme southwest of the island near vo Povoação Velha.
