Boczki (Łowicz district) - Boczki (powiat łowicki)

Sides - village in Poland, in voivodeship of Lodz, in Lowicz poviat, in in the Kocierzew Południe commune.

The village has been known since 1360.
In 1849, an outstanding Polish landscape painter was born in Boczek Józef Chełmońskihence the village is commonly known as Boczek Chełmońskie. To commemorate it, an obelisk was built next to the parish church.
Since 1974, the Regional Song and Dance Ensemble "Boczki Chełmońskiego" has been operating in the village at the Volunteer Fire Department.

According to the register of monuments National Heritage Institute the following objects are entered on the list of monuments:

  • chapel st. Rocha, wooden, 1761, registration number: 835-VI-54 from 1950 and 562 from August 15, 1967
  • manor house, 2nd half of the 19th century XIX, XX:
    • manor house, reg.no .: 591 of July 28, 1983
    • park, reg.No .: 503 from 09.16.1978

The chapel, dedicated to Saint Roch, built in 1761, funded by Archbishop Władysław Łubieński. It is a wooden, rectangular building of a log structure with boarding from the outside, with a gable roof with a turret from 1761. The sacristy is located in the southern part. There are interesting paintings inside the chapel. e.g. a painting of Saint Valentine from the 17th century and sculptures from the 18th century.
Also the image of the Holy Trinity as a head with three faces. It is the only work of this type in Poland, unique in the world.
