Lake Bohinj is a clear water lake in Triglav National Park. It is the largest lake in Slovenia. The villages surrounding the lake serve as a base for nature tourism in the area.
Understand
There are three small villages around Lake Bohinj: Ribčev Laz, Stara Fužina and Ukanc. Lake Bohinj is reached via Ribčev Laz and is within walking distance of Stara Fužina. Ukanc is further west on the lake and there are only lodges and restaurants but no shops.

Arrival
By bus
Kranjista and From Ljubljana there is a bus connection to Lake Bohinj. There are several buses a day from Ljubljana, operated by AP Ljubljana, the bus runs via Ribčev Laz to Ukanc (travel time about 2 h).
By train
The nearest train station is 10 km from Lake Bohinj in Bohinjska Bistrica.
Movement
By bus
Buses can be moved between the villages, timetables can be found at the stops and payment is given in cash to the driver.
By boat
Boating. A tourist boat runs between Ribčev Laz and Ukanc a few times a day. Travel time is 40 minutes / direction. Price per adult 10.5 € / return.

Camping
Hike Around Lake Bohinj in Triglav National Park.
- 1 Mostnica gorge (Stara Fužina).
- 2 Slap Savica waterfall (Ukanc).
- 3 Dolina Triglavskih jezer (Triglav Lakes Valley) (Ukanc). The route from Ukanc runs to the valley of Triglav's seven lakes. There is a very steep rise at the beginning, which can be dangerous in the rain. As a day trip destination, you have time to walk all the way to the nearest lakes (Črno Jezero and Dvojno Jezero) and back to Ukanci. For further excursions, you should book a berth in the mountain cottages in the area, which are open at least in summer.
- From landscape points has a view of the mountainside towards the lake. (Located north of the lake, the shortest route from Stara Fužin.)
- 4 Vogar.
- 5 Parachute jumping place. View to the east of the lake and to Stara Fuzhin.
