The slovenian Capital Ljubljana (German: Laibach) is roughly in the middle of the country and is often referred to as a mixture of Austrian and Mediterranean flair.
background
The river Ljubljanica flows - past baroque buildings - through the middle of the city. The more modern part of the city is on the western side of the Ljubljanica, while the old town with its narrow streets and the castle are on the eastern side. Both parts of the city are connected by a large number of bridges, the largest and most famous of which is the Tromostovje on Prešernov Trg (Prešern Square): three bridges in the same place lead from the main central square towards the old town.
