Ljubljana Airport

The Ljubljana Airport is the international airport of the Slovenian capital Ljubljana. The Slovenian name is Letališče Jožeta Pučnika Ljubljana or Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport, which is the common abbreviation Letališče Brnik or Brnik Airport.

The airport is 16 miles north of downtown Ljubljana and 7 km southeast of Kranj near the village of Brnik. It is the home airport of the national Slovenian airline Adria Airways.

Arrival and departure

By train

There are regular bus connections to the main train station in Ljubljana or to the train station in Kranj.

By bus

A Bus line connects the city center of Ljubljana with the airport. The journey takes 45 to 60 minutes. The buses depart from the bus terminal in Ljubljana from bus stop 28. The first bus leaves at 5:20 a.m., further buses from 6:10 a.m. and then every hour until 8:10 p.m. Buses from the airport to Ljubljana city center leave every hour from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. There is limited bus traffic on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays. The first bus departs at 7:00 a.m. and then runs every two hours between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. The route is served by two bus companies. If LPP served the route, you can also use the Urbana Card and receive a considerable discount on the fare. Otherwise, an entrance costs € 4.10. Especially between 2:10 p.m. and 4:10 p.m. this line is also heavily frequented by schoolchildren who then drive home from school to the surrounding villages. Then the bus gets jam-packed.

Those arriving or departing from Ljubljana Airport at other times have to rely on either a taxi or the private shuttle bus service, which is handled by minibuses. The fixed price is € 9.00.

There is an hourly bus service between Kranj and the airport from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., the transfer time is around 15 minutes and costs € 1.80; Four times on Saturdays.

The airport is located 26 km north of the center of Ljubljana on the motorway A2 between Ljubljana and the Karawanken tunnel.

From the center of Kranj via local road 104, the distance from the center of Kranj to the airport is 11 km.

The airport is small, there is only one terminal with 13 gates. Given that the airport is a hub for Adria Airways, it offers very little service. After the security check there are only three duty-free shops (one on the ground floor and two on the first floor), a perfumery and a small café.
