The new, very well-developed road to Bokor Hill is open again and can be used for a toll. There are plans to create a 5-star resort on the plateau (including a helicopter transfer to the sea); the construction work has long since started. The hotel is already there and a huge settlement is yet to follow. Plans and a large scale model can be viewed in a separate exhibition hall.
The popular excursions on the plateau to the Bokor Hill stations are now offered en masse. Minibus after minibus winds its way to the top of the Bokor up to 1,070 m above sea level. The tours can be arranged in the guest houses in Kampot and Sihanoukville easily arrange. Rumor has it that it should be possible for locals to arrange a trip to the plateau for you privately.
I was there on January 4th, 2013. There is a direct bus service from Phnom Penh to Bokor. $ 20 per person - round trip. The duration of the journey is 4 hours each. Stayed at the newly built casino hotel, about 2km from the old casino, from $ 50 / night. The outside of the old hotel has already been completely renovated. The view is still extraordinary - view of a jungle below the old hotel with a distant sea view.
Fees / permits
The entrance fee (toll) for the Bokor National Park is staggered, depending on the vehicle type. There is no charge for bicycles.
