Brandenburg (not M. Brandenburg) is one of the 16 federal states German.

Characteristic

It is located in Brandenburg Berlin, set aside as a separate federal state. It borders with the federal states: Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Lower Saxony. Brandenburg borders in the east with Poland - voivodships lubuskie and West Pomeranian.

The capital of Brandenburg is located south of Berlin - Potsdam, is also the largest city in the federal state.

Brandenburg has an area of 29,479 km² and a population of approximately 2,547,000.

About 20,000 Sorbs live in the south of Brandenburg. In addition to German, they use the following languages: Lower Sorbian and Upper Sorbian. These are Slavic languages, the first one closer to Polish, it is a dying language. The second, Upper Lusatian, similar to Czech, is still used by a significant number of local residents Bautzen.

Water tourism

It is the region of Central Europe with the richest inland waters. That is why it was named Blue ParadiseDas blaue Paradies[1].

Numerous lakes covering the vast plateau - and there are over three thousand of them all, including the largest inner lake in Germany - Muritz (already in Mecklenburg), larger than the Masurian Voivodeship Śniardwy - formed during the last ice age, about 10-12 thousand years ago. Its central part is the Toruń-Eberswald valley. They were created at the same time as those lying on the other side Odra River Drawskie Lakeland and Masurian Lakes to the east. Therefore, these lakes have the same glacial character and are often ribbon lakes. They differ from the Masurian Lakes in that they are spread over a large area, some distance from each other. The Great Masurian Lakes form an almost compact complex and therefore this reservoir is a paradise for sailing yachts. Here, differently, in order to swim from one lake to another one has to overcome considerable distances. Of course, it is overcome by flowing through the canals, on the engine. What for some is a troublesome break in sailing, for others is the crux of the journey, all the larger lakes are connected by navigable canals or canalised rivers. The two rivers Hawela and the Spree are natural communication axes, while the artificial two canals are Odra-Hawela and Odra-Spree. The length of the navigable routes is impressive, it exceeds 8,000 kilometers, a large part of which is available for motorboating.

Bicycle touring

Cycling is developed in Brandenburg. The length of all bicycle routes is estimated at over 7,000 kilometers [2]. Brandenburg's most popular long-distance bicycle routes include the Elbe bicycle route, the Oder-Neisse international bicycle route, the Berlin-Copenhagen bicycle route, the Berlin-Usedom bicycle route and the Tour Brandenburg. The length of the Tour Brandenburg, which runs around the entire federal state of Brandenburg, is over 1,100 kilometers. Accommodation for cyclists is offered by the Bett Bike network, organized by the General German Bicycle Club (ADFC).
