- Cypress Hills it is an ethnically diverse part of East New York separated from the rest of the neighborhood by Atlantic Avenue.
- East New York like many Brooklyn neighborhoods it has a long history with houses that once housed farms, and parks like Highland Park where children can play. The Gateway Mall is one of the few suburban malls in the city, and the City Line or Liberty Avenue section is the area frequented by residents for shopping. Be careful when passing this way by going to JFK Airport on lines A and J and on bus B15.

By subway
This area has poor subway coverage compared to other areas of Brooklyn. There is no service in the Flatlands. The closest station is Flatbush Avenue-Brooklyn College on the lines 2 is 5 (weekdays only) is about an hour's walk (but buses along Flatbush Avenue and Avenue H get there faster).
Canarsie is sesrvita a little better, the line L ends at Canarsie - Rockway Parkway, a 25-minute walk from Jamaica Bay (although the B42 bus goes to Canarsie Piers from the station). The L line is difficult to reach from other parts of Brooklyn, but the G., M., J / Z, is B.C they all give a chance to change for it.
But on the other hand, if you are visiting East New York, probably the least interesting area of the city due to the crime rate, you have no choice. Line 3 ends at New Lots Avenue, the closest (but still distant) station to the bay. The lines B.C is J / Z they make several stops in East New York. If you are going straight from Brooklyn to JFK, you will pass through here, and rest assured because the trains are safe.
LIRR
There Atlantic Branch of the LIRR has only one stop at East New York. The trains that pass this way come and go from Atlantic Terminal.
By bus
The BM1, BM2, BM4, and BM5 buses pass this way coming from Manhattan.
By car
Due to poor subway coverage and crime, East Brooklyn can be one of the few areas where it is good to drive. There Belt Parkway is Shore Parkway surround Brooklyn and are close to Jamaica Bay attractions.
