Burgas lies on the Gulf of the Black Sea, between the sea and adjacent coastal lakes, making it the most important port in Bulgaria. Thanks to a port, it also became an industrial city.
On the other hand, the presence of extensive sandy beaches and the mild climate have favored tourism already in the past (especially since the West).
In the city live about 200 thousand people.

Access by car
The A1 motorway connects Burgas with Sofia.
Those coming from western Europe can travel through Belgrade (motorways A1 and A3 to the border between Serbia and Bulgaria). From there it is necessary to use ordinary roads to Sofia (approx. 50km ring road).
Those coming from Greece can reach Sofia by A25 (in Greece) A3 (in Bulgaria). In Bulgaria, however, A3 is not complete, it is necessary to leave near Dolna Gradeshnica and drive through an ordinary road for approx. 40km almost to Blagoev grade.
Those coming from Turkey can complete the entire journey from Istanbul to Burgas via a motorway (O-3 in Turkey, A4 A1 in Bulgaria), although the journey is considerably longer than a direct line. It is possible to further reduce the number of km by ordinary roads between Edirne and Veselinovo, or between Babaeski and directly Burgas.
Finally, the travelers coming from Romania have to use mostly ordinary routes.
