Bursa is a city in the Marmara region, capital of the homonymous province.
To know
The first impression of Bursa is generally that of a large modern city overrun by concrete in contradiction to its nickname, much in use in the rest of the country. Turkey, of "Verde Bursa" (Yeşil Bursa) but visiting the historic center, its mosques and the surviving traditional neighborhoods, you will understand that the nickname is well deserved.
Bursa owes its reputation as a green city also to nearby Uludağ, the High Mountain with its forested slopes, called Olympus of Misia in ancient times and now accessible by cable car.
In 2014, Bursa and the neighboring Cumalıkızık village were placed on the list UNESCO of the world heritage of humanity.
How to orient yourself
How to get
From Istanbul the quickest and most convenient way to get to Bursa is to take a company ferry Idobus[link not working] for Mudanya and from there a bus that takes you to the Bursa metro terminus. This bus is called 1GY, it leaves from the pier where the ship docks and tickets can be purchased from the kiosk located in front of the bus stop. The single price is 2.5 TL or 2.3 TL if the transport card is used (prices updated to January 2013), which can also be purchased at the same kiosk at a cost of 4 TL. called Emek, from there you can take one of the many trains that go into the city center.
By bus
- 1 Suburban bus terminal (Bursa Uluslararası ve Şehirlerarası Otobüs Terminals), ☎ 90 224 261 54 00. All intercity buses arrive at the modern bus station (Terminal), located about 10 km north of the center, near the interchange from the highway to Istanbul, and inside the ring road. Inside there are also the stops and the terminus of the urban buses for the center and the suburbs. Buses of line 38 shuttle to the center while those of line 96 go to Çekirge but run through the center.
There are also very frequent turquoise buses marked HEYKEL which will drop you off right in the center of Bursa in front of Ulucamii.

By public transport
In the event of a prolonged stay in the city or numerous journeys by public transport, it is advisable to purchase the city transport card at a cost of 4 TL (prices updated in January 2013). This card allows travel at a slightly reduced price compared to the purchase of single tickets and every time you take a vehicle it must be placed in the appropriate electronic device that will deduct the money present in the card that acts as a real rechargeable. metro with the card costs 1.60 TL (price January 2013).

- 2 Uludağ - Bursa is located at the foot of Mount Uludağ, famous for its ski reserves and its natural park. To reach the mountain you have to take a minibus from the city district of Tophane which at a cost of 10 TL (prices January 2013) in just under an hour takes you to the ski and accommodation facilities.
- 3 Cumalıkızık (10 km) - Traditional village of the Ottoman period remained intact. It has been included in the UNESCO list of world heritage sites and therefore very visited.
