Büsingen on the Upper Rhine is a small community in Hegau.
background
Büsingen is known nationwide as the only German exclave. The small, otherwise insignificant place in Hegau is completely surrounded by Switzerland, so the place is a curious mixture of Swiss and German laws. The place is connected to the German and Swiss telephone networks, there are German and Swiss cell phone networks, but payments are made in Swiss francs and not in euros, and the postcard can be sent home with a German postage stamp (also for destinations in Switzerland) become. Since Büsingen is part of the Swiss economic area, the duty-free limits apply to imports from non-EU countries when you bring goods from Büsingen to Germany.
The number plate BÜS, which only vehicles from Büsingen carry, is the rarest number plate abbreviation in Germany with only 700 vehicles and a popular photo opportunity for strangers. These vehicles are considered Swiss vehicles and are z. B. treated accordingly by Swiss customs.
The price level in Büsingen is based on Switzerland, the place is not a cheap vacation spot for German vacationers.
