- Hohentwiel fortress ruins. In the year 915 a fortress was built on the nearby Hohentwiel, which changed hands several times over the course of history, but was never conquered. It was only handed over without a fight in 1801 and demolished on the orders of Napoleon. Today the largest German fortress ruin is a popular destination.
