background
This palm-lined bay with a white sandy beach has a pier. Two reefs protect the bay. There you will find a small village with a church and a police station. The place can be reached in around 25 minutes by car from Road Town. In the south, the bay is separated from Great Carrot Bay by the 135 m high Windy Hill.
beaches
- Cane Garden Bay. Cane Garden Bay is one of the most popular beaches with both tourists and locals. The large, curved bay is sheltered from the wind. Tourist Attractions
- Callwood’s Rum Distillery, Arundel Estate, Cane Garden Bay. This rum distillery was founded 400 years ago. The Callwood family has owned the still for two hundred years. It was acquired by Richard Callwood, Sr., known as the Buccaneer who also owned Thatch Island in the early 19th century. This small facility, more a museum than a factory, is the last rum distillery in the British Virgin Islands, where all work has been handcrafted as it has been for 200 years. Since there is hardly any sugar cane cultivation on the islands, and all but one of the stills ceased operations, all rum products on the island are made with rum from Arundel or with imported rum. There are several family businesses that manufacture small quantities of rum products with their private brand names.
