Capilla del Monte is a city in the Sierras de Cordoba in the central Argentina. The 15,000 inhabitants, in the north of the Punilla Valley located place is considered a Mecca for ufologists and esotericists. The city is located on the highest mountain in the region, the Uritorco, around which numerous myths entwine.

Capilla del Monte offers travelers the most natural and diverse landscapes of the Punilla Valley. It is an ideal hiking area: peaks up to 2,000 m high, numerous small reservoirs and waterfalls, as well as strange rock formations attract many guests, but have by no means turned the place into a mass destination like Carlos Paz.

By plane
Airport in Cordoba, from the local bus station (minibus and city bus connection) buses every hour.
By train
Capilla del Monte is located on a railway line currently being renovated, which is currently only served for a short stretch near Córdoba.
In the street
From Córdoba it is best to take the RN E-53 to Ascochinga, then via the C-45, the Camino del Cuadrado, to La Cumbre. Even if the route is not yet completely tarred (it should be finished in the course of 2008) it is significantly faster than the route over, which is characterized by traffic jams during the season Cosquín.
By bus
There are direct connections to Buenos Aires / Rosario and La Rioja.
Regional buses go to Cordoba, Cruz del Eje, San Marcos Sierras (only twice a day) and Villa Carlos Paz.

- Covered pedestrian zone. In order to defy the sun and rain, a block of the main street is covered by an ornate roof.
- Neocolonial Church, on a hill, a little away from the center.
- Pueblo Encanto. A kind of theme park with old rentable villas and smaller holiday homes and bathing facilities.

Capilla del Monte is one of the best places in Argentina for hiking and mountain biking. In the mountains there are numerous paths that are almost never marked, but are also not branched out so that you could get lost. The dirt roads to the northeast, on the other hand, are very attractive for mountain bikers, as they are not particularly difficult to master, but through strange rock formations such as at Ongamira to lead.

Souvenirs from the esoteric environment, such as small UFOs or aliens, are popular. Otherwise you can buy everything you need in supermarkets.

- A popular excursion goes to Los Terrones and Ongamira, Located 15 km northeast of the city. There you can observe numerous strange rock formations.
- El Zapato. "The Shoe", a rock formation north of Capilla del Monte.
- Dique El Cajón. Reservoir with swimming facilities, 5 km west of the city.
