Chateaulin (Breton castelline) is one french City in the department Finistère, in the Brittany.

It is the capital of the Arrondissement of Châteaulin and the Canton of Châteaulin.

The city lies on both sides of the Aulne, the longest river in the department, which was also important for urban development. The salmon caught in the river has long been an important economic factor and helped the townspeople to get their unpopular nickname "Pen Eog" (salmon head). The river opens a few kilometers northwest of the municipality to a confluence.

The N165 passes around 2 kilometers east of the city. There the N164 joins it from the east and leads as the D884 to Châteaulin through the city and further on Crozon.
