getting there
ship
From Bluefields there is a ship to Corn Island at least once a week. The crossing takes about six hours and you usually experience a sunset on the boat. You should definitely ask when the next ship is going back, otherwise you might get stuck for days
plane
There are daily flights with La Costeña to and from Managua as well as Bluefields. The planes are relatively small, so you should reserve well in advance. Larger amounts of baggage may not be carried, as may bulky items. You should be at the airport at least two hours before departure, as it has already happened that seats that have already been booked have been re-allocated because the traveler was not there on time. Corn Island Airport is on Big Corn Island and there are taxis from there to pick you up from the plane.
