Cuesta Blanca is a small place in the argentinianSierras de Cordoba, around 15 km south of Villa Carlos Paz. It is located on a tiny reservoir, the Embalse Cuesta Blanca.
The barely 800 inhabitants hide the hype that prevails here in summer when the tourists from Carlos Paz arrive in droves by local buses in search of somewhat quieter beaches. In the rest of the year, however, the place is sleepy and a paradise for hikers with very attractive paths, the most famous of which is the path to Playa de los Hippies is.

Cuesta Blanca has not remained untouched by the region's rapid growth over the past 20 years. It tripled its population between 1991 and 2001 and construction continues, as if one wanted to compete with Carlos Paz in the hustle and bustle. Nevertheless: you can still find an island of calm here outside the main season.
getting there
By plane
The nearest airport is in Cordoba. From there there are buses to Carlos Paz, from the bus station there are also direct buses to Cuesta Blanca (every hour).
By bus
In addition to the direct buses from Córdoba, you can also change to a local bus in Carlos Paz, which runs every 20 minutes.
In the street
From Córdoba and Carlos Paz you take the Ruta Nacional 20, which is well developed, but can be very congested in Carlos Paz itself in summer.

The place has no special sights to offer. Nature is the protagonist of the scenery.

Swimming in the river, mountain biking, horse riding and hiking are all possible. The hiking trail to the Playa de los Hippies, a beach where some dropouts from the military dictatorship had settled. Today the area hidden behind a river breakthrough is a Mecca for alternative travelers, in summer the otherwise quiet wild campsite becomes a popular meeting place.

Bigger errands have to be done in Carlos Paz. Cuesta Blanca only has a handful of small corner shops.

trips
- Bosque Alegre Observatory. One of the most important observatories in the southern hemisphere. It is located on the ridge of the Sierra Chica 15 km southwest of Cuesta Blanca. Access by road to Alta Gracia.
- Quebrada del Condorito National Park. In this little-visited, still young national park, you can spot condors, go mountain biking and hiking. Located at approx. 1800 m altitude and therefore fresh all year round.
