Ca Mau is a young land, newly discovered for over 300 years. The land of Ca Mau in the past was discovered by Mac Cuu who led the Chinese people to explore. After Mac Cuu offered all of this land to the Nguyen Dynasty, Mac Thien Tu's son Mac Cuu obeyed the Nguyen court's orders to establish the Long Xuyen religion. Through many administrative changes, until January 1, 1997, Ca Mau province was re-established according to the Resolution of the IXth National Assembly, the 10th session. November 6, 1996 on the adjustment of boundaries administratively, split Minh Hai province into Ca Mau province and Bac Lieu province.
