Dormans is a city french of the department of Marl, in the region Champagne-Ardenne. It has approximately 3,173 inhabitants.

Understand

City of history. The city belonged to the 10th century to the Counts of Champagne and the châtellenie was brought as a dowry by the daughter of Thibaut V to Philippe le Bel. Jean de Dormans, cardinal of Beauvais, founded a college there where education was free before founding in Paris, in 1370, the college of Dormans-Beauvais, ancestor of the Lycée Louis-le-Grand. Battle of Dormans in 1573 that Henri de Guise was wounded in the face, which earned him the nickname of 'Scarred'.
