Douarnenez is a french City in the department Finistère in the Brittany.

Politically, the place belongs to the Arrondissement Quimper and is the administrative center of the canton of Douarnenez.

The current place was founded in the 12th century. However, traces of Roman settlement can be found in the municipality.

The place is the fifth largest fishing port in France.
