Jeddah (الجيزة, Ğidda; English spelling: Jeddah) is an important trading city on the west coast of Saudi Arabia.
background
Jeddah is located on the Red Sea, the climate is warm and humid and takes a lot of getting used to for Europeans. The city is very different from Riyadh, you can feel more openness and multicultural influences. Women are also allowed to go public without being veiled. Walks on the beach are possible. The residential and commercial buildings are partially decorated and individually designed. There are numerous meter-high sculptures on the beach promenade, some smaller ones are original works by Pablo Picasso.
You can eat fresh fish in restaurants and hotels, the Red Sea is rich in fine fish. It is reserved for men to go jet skiing at the numerous resorts and beach baths and to undertake extensive dives on the fantastic reefs with their unique diversity.
