On September 28, 1066 William the Conqueror went ashore with his army at Hastings, where he defeated and killed the last Anglo-Saxon King of England on October 14, 1066 in the Battle of Hastings. This victory ushered in the rule of the Normans over England.

Brighton

Brighton is the most famous seaside resort in southern England, its main attractions are the Royal Pavilion, which opened in 1822, and the 524-meter-long Brighton Pier. The alleys of the Lanes or the Churchill Square shopping center are ideal for shopping.

Beachy Head

The 162m high chalk cliff Beachy Head Near Eastborne is the tallest in all of Great Britain. To the west the cliffs of the Seven Sisters that like Beachy Head is part of the range of hills South Downs are.

Rye

The medieval town Rye is east of Hastings and is known for the Ypres Tower, a 13th century fort that long served as a prison. There is also an equally old city gate in Rye, the Land Gate. St. Mary's Parish Church has the oldest still functioning clock tower in England and can be climbed; the church offers a beautiful view of the surroundings. The old town of Rye is located on a hill and the streets are cobblestone, for example the famous Mermaid Street.
