background

As the name suggests, Eisenberg is a town that is predominantly characterized by mining. There is no longer any underground mining here, but the iron processing industry is still located in the city, including Gienanth GmbH, one of the largest and most important iron factories in the region, which can look back on a long history.

Eisenberg today consists of two other districts in addition to the main town. Stauf is a small but definitely worth seeing village northwest of the city center. Steinborn was created as a workers' settlement on behalf of Gienanth GmbH; The settlement is not of major tourist interest.

By train

The 1 Eisenberg (Pfalz) railway stationEisenberg (Pfalz) station in the Wikipedia encyclopediaEisenberg train station (Pfalz) in the media directory Wikimedia CommonsEisenberg (Pfalz) train station (Q15354236) in the Wikidata database is served hourly by trains from the direction of Frankenthal, which also stop in Grünstadt en route.

In the street

The next connection point is the exit Symbol: AS 18 Wattenheim an der A6. The route is notoriously at risk of congestion and especially in rush hour traffic or if you are already stuck in a traffic jam, it doesn't hurt to leave the motorway one exit earlier and to cope with the rest of the way on the country road. You leave it from the north A63 at the exit Symbol: AS 12 Göllheim and follows the well-developed B47 to Eisenberg.

mobility

There is a city bus, but it only runs 7 times a day (only 3 times a day on Saturdays and not at all on Sundays). If you miss it, you may have to rely on a taxi for longer journeys (e.g. from the train station to Stauf). The urban area itself can also be crossed on foot.
