Tourist Attractions

Castle park with castle church in the background

There are three buildings to be highlighted in the charming city center:

  • town hall. Renaissance style, expanded in 1579, 1593.
  • Parish Church of St. Peter. Late Gothic, rebuilt in 1494, 1880. The church is grouped together with town houses from the 16th to 18th centuries around the rectangular market square.
  • Christianenburg Palace. 1677 to 1692. This baroque building was built at a time when Eisenberg was the residence of the Duchy of Saxony-Eisenberg. After 1707, however, the city belonged to Sachsen-Altenburg, whereby it lost its residence status again. Also worth seeing is the associated castle church (1690 to 92) with rich stucco as well as wall and ceiling paintings and the castle garden from 1683.

  • Teufelstalbrücke. The Teufelstal is bridged by the A4 to the west of the Hermsdorfer Kreuz. It was built in 1936 with a width of 138 m, a length of 253 m and a height of 61 m Teufelstalbrücke the longest reinforced concrete arch bridge in the world. From 1996 to 1998, a second bridge was built next to the existing bridge as part of the six-lane expansion of the A4.
