By train

Almost parallel to the A4 leads the Holzlandbahn of Jena to Gera. Regional express trains on the route run here every hour Goettingen – Erfurt – Glauchau/Altenburg. RE stops are Stadtroda and Hermsdorf-Bad Klosterlausnitz, the smaller stations are served by a regional train every two hours. In the east the area is covered by the railway line Leipzig – Gera affects. In the west runs the Saalebahn, on which regional trains run on the Naumburg - Jena - Saalfeld route.
