Engis is a town Belgian of the province of Liège in Wallonia which includes the villages of Clermont-sous-Huy, Engis, Éhein and Hermalle-sous-Huy.
Understand
Located on the banks of the Meuse (an important European river), Hermalle is also located at the foot of the Ardennes in Condruz and therefore offers interesting differences in height for sporty hikers and cyclists.
Once an important town in the region, stronghold of the episcopal court of Liège with its court of justice and its own vassals, the village escaped the industrialization of XIXe century and has preserved its rustic charm.
Located in the middle of a region of great commercial, scientific, artistic, sporting and tourist importance, between Cork and Huy, Hermalle brings together near a Mosan-style castle and its castle farm, a set of buildings from XVIIe and XVIIIe centuries.
Hermalle, which is located on the right bank of the Meuse, has been included, since 1977, in the entity of Engis whose administrative center is located on the left bank.
