Erkner is a small town on the eastern outskirts of Berlin in the Oder-Spree district of the state Brandenburg.

Erkner is located on the south-eastern outskirts of Berlin and was first published in 1579 as The Erkner mentioned in a document. From 1812 to 1952, Erkner belonged to the then Niederbarnim district, then to the GDR district Frankfurt (Oder), Fürstenwalde district; since 1990 to the state of Brandenburg. In 1944, Erkner was largely destroyed in an Allied air raid on the tar factory, which is now closed. In 1998 Erkner received city rights.
