The Fergana Valley extends from Bekabad, Tajikistan to the west over Fergana, Uzbekistan until after Osh in Kyrgyzstan.

The valley is divided between three states: Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The multi-ethnic mix often leads to tensions and sometimes to unrest. The valley is also one of the main routes for drug transport to the west.
language
The languages of the three ethnic groups are spoken: Kyrgyz, Tajik and Uzbek. In addition, Russian is used as a lingua franca understood everywhere.
getting there
- Out Bishkek planes fly to Osh, as well Dushanbe after Chushand.
- From Tashkent buses drive over the pass road to Kukon, or trains via Bekabad and Chushand.
