The Cochin airport, international: Cochin International Airport, is an international airport in the Indian state of Kerala, the fourth largest airport in India in terms of international traffic. It is located 27 kilometers northeast of Kochi / Cochin near the village of Nedumbassery and is therefore also under the name Nedumbassery Airport known.

Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) is a public-private partnership limited company. It is the first Indian airport at which the government - and this in a communist-run federal state! - only holds a minority of 26%, but presides over the company ex officio. The majority of the company shares are held by more than 10,000 Indians living outside India (non-resident Indians). It is mainly Indians from Kerala who work in the Arab states and use the airport for their visits back home.

By bus
Since 2009, modern buses with air conditioning have been running from Fort Kochi up to 10 times a day via Thoppumpadi, Vytilla, Aluva to the airport and from the airport back to Fort Kochi. In addition, the state bus company KSRTC offers a few connections between Ankamaly, Vaikom, Chertala, Thrissur, Aluva to the airport and back. The KSRTC bus stop is in front of the departure hall. With the taxi
The computerized and automated prepaid taxi counters at the national and international terminals are managed by employees of the airport company CIAL. The taxi system itself is organized by a taxi cooperative, which in turn is controlled by the CIAL.
The following taxi prices are currently set: to Ernakulam (45-60 minutes) 466 rupees with non-air-conditioned taxis, with air-conditioning INR 631 rupees; to Fort Kochi [75-90 minutes) 635 rupees by non-air-conditioned taxis; to Willingdon Island (65-80 minutes) 606 rupees by non-air-conditioned taxis. By the way: credit cards are not accepted for paying for taxis. For the drive to the airport you should calculate between 500-700 rupees.
By car
Cochin International Airport is easily accessible from all three national highways that run through Kerala (NH 47, NH 17 and NH 49). Via a feeder to NH 47, the airport has a direct, but often congested, road connection to Ernakulam and Kochi.

There are currently more than 70 daily flights with all major cities across India and with international destinations in the Middle East (Dubai, Sharjah, Kuwait, Muscat, Doha, Dammam, Jeddah, Riyadh, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi) and Southeast Asia (Singapore, Kuala Lumpur).

Terminals
Cochin Airport has two terminals right next to each other: "International" and "Domestic".
International Terminal: The arrival hall located on the first floor. An escalator leads down to the baggage hall. In the arrival hall you will find counters for ordering prepaid taxis (CIAL), as well as exchange offices, a counter for tourist information and an office for complaining about lost luggage. In the Departure lounge there is a post office, a place for national and internal telephone calls, exchange offices, toilets, a restaurant and a coffee shop.

Those who want to accompany and say goodbye to passengers can only enter the terminals for a fee of 75 rupees (international terminal) or 20 rupees (national terminal).
Arrival and departure
Check in
Check-in starts 3 hours before departure for international flights and one and a half hours before departure for national flights.
Parking / mobility
There is sufficient parking space opposite the terminals: cars pay 30 rupees, 2- and 3-wheel vehicles 10 rupees.
Practical advice
There is an ATM outside the Arrivals Hall, in the parking lot opposite.
