The Helsinki airport is the largest airport in Finland and the fourth largest in Scandinavia.

Helsinki-Vantaa Airport is located in the city Vantaa, about 15 kilometers north of Helsinki, the capital of Finland.
getting there
By train
The airfield has had its own connection to the S-Bahn network since 2015. In both directions, the destination is Helsinki Central Station, the journey times are almost identical, half an hour. So you can get on the first train that arrives. This makes the train the fastest connection to the city center
By bus
The cheapest connection from the airport to the city is the bus line 615, which takes about 40 minutes to the main station and costs 4 €, departure in the opposite direction at bus platform 10 (at the Rautatientori, on which the Kivi monument is located) about every 20 Minutes. Finnair offers buses to the hotels for € 5.90 (as of 02/2009).
With the taxi
Taxis cost € 25 and up, Airport taxi (Tel. 0600 555555 for bookings) but offers minivans for 1 to 4 people for only 18 €.

From Helsinki north on Tuusula Street (Expressway 45), follow signs for the airport.

Terminals 1 and 2 are only about 300 m apart and are connected by a pedestrian bridge.

It are easy to use Check-in machines near all entrances. The logos on the screen show whether the relevant airline is included in the system and whether you can check in. Otherwise search until you have found a machine with the correct logo. Usually staff are available at the machines to help if you cannot cope on your own. Caution: 60 gates, approx. 50 m. Between gates approx. 3 km in total, you have to walk quite a bit between passport control and the entrance to the aircraft.
Change
Terminal 1 and 2 are only a few steps away from each other in the same building.

- The Via lounge is located at the rear of the terminal extension at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, between Gates 36 and 37. There are six private shower rooms, a buffet, a via bar and relaxation areas with televisions. A free Wi-Fi network is available as well as work areas with PCs and Finnish Powerkiss desks, where cell phones can be charged wirelessly. The Via Lounge is open from 6 a.m. to midnight.
- The Via spa is located in the rear area of the terminal extension at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, between Gates 36 and 37. There is a sauna made of spruce and stone, a steam sauna and a traditional Finnish sauna, as well as a pool with air jets and a view over the runway. The Via Spa is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
