Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport - Flughafen Moskau-Scheremetjewo

Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport

The Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport (Russian: Шереме́тьево, English: Sheremetyevo) is an airport in the metropolitan area Moscow, it is named after the nearby village of Sheremetyevo.

background

Terminal D

Originally the airport was a base for the Soviet transport planes. Sheremetyevo-I was used as Moscow's international airport from 1959 and has been used as a terminal for national connections since the opening of Sheremetyevo-II on March 3, 1980.

The name Sheremetyevo today refers to two airports with three terminals each, which use the same runways but are otherwise separate from each other:

Terminals A (planned), B and C (SVO-A, SVO-B and SVO-C) in the north (formerly Sheremetyevo-I) are now mainly used for national air traffic and also to the Baltic states

Terminals E and F (SVO-D, SVO-E and SVO-F) in the south (formerly Sheremetyevo-II) are now used for international air traffic.

getting there

By train

  • The Sheremetyevo Aeroexpress is a convenient and inexpensive way to get to the city center. There is a free bus shuttle from Terminals B and C to the express train station, which is located at Terminal F. The journey to the city center takes 35 minutes and the train leaves about every 30 minutes. A one-way ticket from the airport to the city costs 420 rubles (€ 5), and 840 rubles for a return trip. The journey ends at the metro station Белорусский вокзал (Belarusian railway station), at the light brown ring train and the green metro line.
