Freedom Trail is an itinerary that takes place through the city of Boston.

Introduction

The freedom trail, inaugurated in 1958, is a path that crosses Boston connecting monuments, historic buildings, churches and other points of interest that are linked to the history of the city.

These 16 colonial historic sites are all connected by a red line that makes up the route, starting from Boston Common and passing through the city center ends at Charlestown.

Preparations

You can follow the freedom trail in two ways, grab a map and set out on your own or take a tour with guides in colonial period clothing.

Stages

The 16 points of the Freedom Trail are:

  1. Boston Common, the oldest public park of the United States.
  2. State house, seat of the Government of the State of Massachusetts.
  3. Park street church, church where the national anthem was first sung by Samuel Smith.
  4. Granary burying ground, the heroes of the revolution are buried here.
  5. King's chaple, the remains of illustrious figures of the colonial period are buried here.
  6. Benjamin franklin's statue site of Boston latin school, statue of Benjamin Franklin and a plaque that reminds us that there was the first public school.
  7. Old corner bookstore building, which has always been a meeting place for writers and personalities who have made the history of the city.
  8. Old south meeting house, second Puritan church of Boston.
  9. Old state house, former seat of the British governors at the time of the Bay Colony, it is the oldest public building in Boston.
  10. Boston massacre, recalls the episode in which five patriots died and which started the revolution.
  11. Faneuil hall, meeting place and public market.
  12. Paul Revere house
  13. Old north church, the oldest church in Boston.
  14. Copp's hill burial ground, mound, where British guns were stationed during the Battle of Bunker Hill.
  15. USS constitution museum, museum dedicated to the history of the USS Constitution, the oldest armed ship in the United States.
  16. Bunker hill monument, in this point there is an obelisk that recalls the bloodiest battles in American history.
