Frýdlant (not M. Friedland in Böhmen) - a small town in northern Bohemia (Liberec Region).
Not to be confused with any other town in the Czech Republic Frydlant on the Ostravice River.

Frýdlant is situated on the border of the Jizera Mountains (Czech Jizerské hory) and the Izerskie Foothills (Czech Frýdlantská pahorkatina), on both sides of the Směda River (Polish Witka). The border with Poland is only 11 km away (the nearest border crossing - Bogatynia-Kunratice), located in the Frýdlantský výběžek, Frýdlant region.

The main tourist attraction is the Gothic castle, rebuilt in the style of a Renaissance chateau. It could have been a prototype of a castle from a novel by Franz Kafka.
