Futaleufú is a small town in Región de los Lagos in Chile. It is best known worldwide as a rafting destination and is 75km east of the Carretera Austral on the border to Argentina.

By plane
The next major airport is in Puerto Montt or Bariloche .
By bus
Of Chaitén twice a day (4h / CLP 2,000), which is also good from Puerto Montt is reachable, or from Argentina.
In the street
Of Villa Santa Lucia (75 km south of Chaitén) at the Carretera Austral A 75 km long bumpy gravel road branches off to Futaleufú.
From Argentina the place is via the asphalt road connection from Esquel at the Ruta Nacional 40 to reach.

Rafting
The most popular river for rafting is the Río Futaleufú. Rafting providers can be found around the central square and at the "Bernardo O'Higgins".
"Puente a Puente"
The "Puente a Puente" (bridge to bridge) section of the river is particularly recommended, especially if you only want to afford a short but intense rafting tour. You are on the water for about 1.5 hours and drive down rapids up to the highest class 5. The tour costs approx. CLP 40,000 including transport and food (snack afterwards).

The ATM in the city's only bank is out of date and does not work with many foreign (Visa) cards if they have a chip (as of 03/16). The Banco de Estado is located east of the central square on "Manuel Rodrígez".

The tourist information is located next to the police station in the central square. There is a free public Wi-Fi hotspot in the central square, which is also quite fast and reliable. There are also sockets there.
Cell phone reception and mobile internet (3G) are reliable and fast in town (Entel, 03/16).
