Gauteng is a province of South Africa.
To know
With its 17,010 km² of surface, Gauteng is the smallest of the provinces of South Africa (less than Lazio) but it is the most industrialized and contributes to the formation of the national income to the extent of 40%.
Gauteng owes its fortunes to the gold that abounds in the bowels of its lands. In the language of the Sotho who appear to have settled in these places since the fifth century, Gauteng means precisely the place of gold. It is a very ancient land where remains of hominids who lived 2.5 million years ago have been found.
