Serbian is a Slavic language, official in bondage and in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Republika Srpska), almost identical to Croatian, Bosnian and Montenegrin, so the tourist can communicate with it in Croatia, throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina and in Montenegro.
Peculiarities of the language, which are reflected in this guide:
- lack of articles;
- declension of nouns, adjectives and pronouns (seven cases);
- the agreement in gender and number of the past participle.
Pronouncing
The Serbian language is also written in the Cyrillic and Latin alphabets. The latter is used in everyday life, the Cyrillic being used mainly in official documents. The advantage of Serbian writing is the almost perfect correspondence between pronunciation and writing.
