Gorczański National Park - a national park located in the south Polandin band Gorce. The park is located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in Limanowa poviat and Nowy Targ.

History

Already before World War II, the need to protect the beautiful landscape and the Gorce area of ​​great natural value was noticed. In 1927, the owner of these lands, Ludwik Wodzicki from Poręba Wielka, established a 114 ha nature reserve. Władysław Orkan. However, the proper Gorce National Park was established only in 1981. Initially, it had an area of ​​5908 ha, in 1988 it was extended to 6763 ha, and later its area was increased; the status as of 2016 is 7029.85 ha. In 1997, a buffer zone with an area of ​​16 647 ha was established around the park.

The highest peaks in the park: Jaworzyna Kamienicka (1,288 m), Kiczora (1,282 m), Kopce (1,291 m), Kudłoń (1,276 m), Czoło Turbacza (1,259 m), Mostownica (1,251 m), Gorc Troszacki (1,235 m) , Gorc (1228 m).

Climate

The climate is typically mountainous. In the highest climatic floor, located above 1,100 m above sea level. it is a cool climate. The average annual temperature is 3 ° C, the annual rainfall is 1,200 mm, and the growing season is only 160 days. The snow cover in some places reaches 1.5 m, in deep stream valleys in higher parts it remains for a very long time, especially on the northern slopes

Drive

By plane

There are no airports in the Gorce area. The nearest one is located in Balice, near Krakow (John Paul II Krakow-Balice Airport), about 77 km north of the village of Konina. Further airports are located in Pyrzowice, Rzeszow and in Slovakia.

By car

Due to the terrain, the road infrastructure is very limited. There is no main road leading through the park, apart from a few municipal roads. The provincial road 968 (Mszana Dolna - Kamienica) runs to the north and east, and DW 969 to the south (Nowy Targ - Krościenko n. Dunajec). A few kilometers to the west are located Rabka-Zdrój and New marketplace, which are the main road junctions of the region.

Gorce is the richest location with advantages for skiing tourism in the Western Beskids. All routes in Gorce are suitable for this tourism, so it can be estimated that there are over 80 ski routes. However, only one ski route is taken into account on the maps. Gorce is famous mainly for the Koninki Ski Station in Poręba Wielka. It is the longest ski slope in Gorce, it also created 8 other cross-country trails.

Places to purchase admission tickets to the park: GPN Educational Center in Poręba Wielka - open on working days from 7.15. - 15.15, Ticket Sales Point GPN Poręba Wielka-Koninki - open on working days from 8.00-12.00, on Saturdays and Sundays from 8.00-16.00.

GPN campsites are located in the Polana Oberówka and Polana Trusiówka.

The park's authorities are calling for regular weather checks and tracking GOPR notifications about the conditions on mountain trails. When visiting the trails, it is also worth taking into account the slope of the terrain, the length of the approaches and whether the shelters / camping sites are currently open. When visiting the park, it is absolutely necessary to follow the rules of the GPN regulations.
