Gossau SG is a Swiss Small town in the canton St. Gallen.

Gossau is the center of the food industry in eastern Switzerland. The industrial area along the motorway and railroad extends to after St. Gallen.

The town of Arnegg also belongs to the city of Gossau.

Express trains stop at Gossau station Zurich-Winterthur-St. Gallen (until 2018 also the EC Zurich-Munich). This is also where the narrow-gauge line of the Appenzeller Bahnen begins, which over Herisau to Appenzell leads and here the branch line branches off Weinfelden via Bischofszell from the main line.

Gossau has two exits on the A1 motorway (Zurich - Winterthur - St. Gallen - St. Margarethen): exit 79 "Gossau" in the west and exit 80 "St. Gallen Winkeln" in the east.

Gossau is primarily perceived as a traffic junction. But Gossau has a city center that is well worth seeing. An ideal starting point for a city tour is the market square (paid parking lot). Gossau is therefore suitable for a short detour (approx. 1 hour) and a visit to one of the cafés.
