When to go

In July and August the students go on holiday and without them Groningen loses a lot of liveliness. If you want to visit the city in the winter, be prepared to face temperatures of about ten degrees below zero and frequent snowfalls. Autumn and in particular the resumption of the academic year represents a fair compromise. Alternatively, you could return your trip in late spring but you will have to deal with frequent rains that continue even in the summer months. During the summer the thermometer is attested on an average of 30 °.

How to orient yourself

The Groningen museum is located right on the bridge over the Dingskanaal. The heart of the old city are the squares Vismarkt is Grote Markt with the town hall (Stathuis). From the southeast corner of the Grote Markt, where the Grand Theater is located, it begins "Poelestraat", a renowned street of clubbing.
