Guebwiller (Ger .: Gebweiler, els .: Gawill'r) is one french City in the department Haut-Rhin, in the Alsace at the Alsatian Wine Route (Route des Vins d'Alsace).

It is the capital of the arrondissement of Guebwiller and the administrative seat of the canton of the same name.

The city is located in the Lauchtal at the confluence of the Lauch and Ill rivers.

The city emerged from a Meierhof of the Murbach Abbey, built in the 8th century. Over time, it became the secular center of the abbey that ruled the city until the Revolution.
