The Hanseatenweg is a hiking and biking trail in the footsteps of the Hanseatic League (1356-1669). It runs in the area of old trade routes between the Hanseatic cities Hamburg and Szczecin (Szczecin) over a total distance of 550 km and is a project of Germany's Friends of Nature. The path is primarily marked with the logo of a Hanse cog. The continuation of the path from Hamburg to Osnabrück is being worked on. The continuation from Szczecin through Poland is planned by the Polish Friends of Nature (PTTK).
In the previous section, the cog was given as the primary feature of the Hanseatenweg. Unfortunately, a marking of the path has not been approved in the Hamburg city area. In the section from Baumall to Kayhude, the yellow arrow on it shows the Alster hiking trail to follow. As described in the stages, the arrows are marked by different section letters.
background
With this path, the Friends of Nature want to promote gentle tourism and make a contribution to international understanding. With the Hanseatenweg we can show the importance of the Hanseatic League for economic, cultural and social development in Europe and thus create an arc to today's EU.
