Chalk Ridge Falls is billed as a 5 mile trail system on the South East end of Stillwell Dam. The hike will take you past two streams and along the Lampasas River. After the first mile or two, the trail becomes clogged with vegetation. Still, it's a good tottle if you are just out to kill a morning. Bring your bathing suit if it has recently been raining as the creeks will be up and could make for a good, quick dip.

New Harker Heights Shopping Plaza features a number of shops and restaurants to choose from.

Thai Orchid Restaurant hidden away across the street from the HEB at Indian Trails Exit of 190 sports some very good Thai food and good service for a reasonable price. The have a lunch buffet on most weekdays.
Drink
Stay away from the night clubs in the Harker Heights area. They are generally full of Soldiers from Fort Hood Texas, just a few miles away. For a better drinking experience try the Duck Horn Tavern in Temple.
