Harrachov - a city in northern Bohemia located near the Polish border in Giant Mountains.

The town is considered to be one of the most famous tourist centers. It is a typical tourist town, focused on active recreation both in winter and summer. There are a lot of ski runs and eight ski jumps, including the most famous ski jumping hill (K-185) and a large hill (K1-125). The jumps are located on the slope of the Devil's Mountain (Čertova hora), accessed by two chairlifts.

Drive

The village is located 4 km from the Polish border, right next to the international road E65 (Jakuszyce-Harrachov state border). All roads leading to the city are kept in good condition throughout the year, only in winter time vehicles should be equipped with good winter tires, and Due to frequent snowfall, it is also recommended to have snow chains and a shovel.

Public collective transport

Going to the upper part of Harrachov and the Rýžoviště district, let's use the ring road.

In this way, we will make it easier for tourists to move around the center of Harrachov, and our journey to the accommodation in these parts of the city and to the four-seater chairlift in the Rýžoviště district will undoubtedly be faster and more comfortable.

If you want to get to the bypass from the state border in Jakuszyce, turn left at the first intersection after crossing the border. If we are going from the opposite direction, we have to turn right about 200 meters after the police station.

In almost the entire city area, there is a speed limit of 30 km / h (except for the beltway) and a parking ban apart from designated parking lots.

Motorized visitors to Harrachov have two gas stations (in Nový Svět and Mýto districts) at their disposal. The next petrol station is located in Poland (Jakuszyce), about 1 km abroad.

The exhibition also includes a tour of an underground tunnel with a length of 1000 m. Here you can see the preserved machines from the last century and the working parts of the tunnel. • Mumlava waterfalls - Mumlavské Waterfalls are located on the Mumlava River, less than a kilometer south of the popular Harrachov winter center. The Mumlavske waterfall consists of 12-meter-high, stepped rock blocks. The river bed is made of granite rocks. In the lower part of the Mumlavske pit, formed in the Quaternary period by a glacier, there is the most abundant in water, the Karkonosze waterfall, 8 m high. At its foot, you can see two huge valleys carved in the granite, another three are located above the waterfall. These valleys, the so-called The "devil's eye" was created as a result of the movement of water and stones. In the vicinity of the waterfalls there are large hollows, which are the result of the activity of the already closed Harrachov ore mine. Currently, ore is no longer mined here. It houses a mining museum, open all year round.
