Economy
A highly industrialized country with intensive agriculture. Lignite and natural gas are mined there. There is the largest group of 2 nuclear power plants in the country - Biblis. The metal and machine industry, means of transport, chemical, electrotechnical and electronic, precision, textile, leather and footwear and clothing industries are particularly developed.
Agriculture is dominated by the cultivation of cereals, potatoes, sugar beet, vegetables and fruit trees. Grapevines are grown on the slopes of the mountains. Forest management plays an important role.
Transport
The most important longitudinal communication routes pass through Hesse, and inland navigation is developed on the main rivers.
