Huntly is a city in the region Waikato.

background

Huntly is located in the Waikato district on the banks of the river of the same name. The city is located in an area in which around 10,000 tons of coal are mined every day. This will be used to operate the steel works in the north of it Glenbrook secondly, one of the few coal-fired power plants in New Zealand is fired with it. The area looks accordingly: some old excavation pits form little beautiful holes in the landscape, but some have also been prepared as lakes for local recreation and for anglers.
