Hvide Sands is a city on the west coast of Central Jutland. It lies roughly in the middle of the spit Holmsland Klit, the narrow strip of dunes that separates Ringkøbing Fjord from the sea.
background
Hvide Sande is a relatively young town on the artificial cut through Holmsland Klit, it was created in 1931 with the construction of the Hvide Sande Canal. The rapidly growing village to the south and north of the bascule bridge over the canal now has the fifth largest fishing port in Denmark and also lives from tourism. For the numerous holiday home areas on the Holmsland Klit, it is next to the one at the northern end of the spit Søndervig the main supply point.

There are numerous destinations around the Ringkøbing Fjord:
- Ringkøbing, on the northern bank of the fjord.
- Bork Vikingehavn. The reconstructed Viking village with harbor, church and sacrificial moor at the southern inlet into the Ringkøbing Fjord.
- Søndervig. The tourist spot at the north end of Holmsland Klit.
- Nymindegab. In Nymindegab, a few kilometers to the south, you can visit the historic rescue station, and you can head towards it on the disused railway line Nørre Nebel Ride a trolley.
