Original name of the island was Titicaca. The meaning of the term is not exactly clarified, it is often used with Puma rocks specified. It was named under the rule of the Incas Sunny island, the neighboring smaller one is the lunar island. A temple was dedicated to the sun god, who was supposed to be born on the Isla del Sol.

- Inti Wata Cultural Complex. It is located by the Inca stairs inside the Inca garden. Here you will find terraces with the most important plants of the Incas, with a typical Aymara house, with tools from farmers and weavers. Here it is also shown how boats are built from the reeds of the Titicaca and how they ride on such a boat, and here you can experience more or less authentic ceremonies of a shaman. There is also a kind of petting zoo with llamas, alpacas, guanacos and vicuñas. A change from the Incas-only-exist-with-ruins-show.
- Challapampa. The village of Challapampa has a small museum.
- The ruins of the Temple of Chinkana
- Cordillera Real. During a walk on one of the old Inca trails in the evening in the east you have a wonderful panorama with the Cordillera Real with its 6000 m peaks.
