Itaipu reservoir dam
The one between Brazil and Paraguay on Rio Paraná The hydropower plant located in the area was for a long time the largest in the world and is only surpassed by the Chinese Yangtze River power plant.
There is a visitor center (Centro de Visitantes) on the Brazilian side. From there, free buses run regularly to the dam. In the center you can see a documentary about the history and the technology of the building, also in English (approx. 30 min), and small guides are also available.
